Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 are both fine games that exemplify why the first-person shooter genre is so pervasive in video games. That said, there's plenty more to be enjoyed in the world of shooters than the hyper realistic, military-themed FPS games that dominate the genre. The following is a list of newer shooters that are worth playing...even if you're not necessarily a huge fan of the genre.
